Foulke blown save

Featured Replies

Leading 5-3 going to the top of the 9th, Foulke allows a 2 run bomb to Spezio and the Angels tie it at 5-5.

The only two guys in baseball I view as automatic anymore are Gagne and Smoltz.

The rest are simply a crapshoot as to who will show up on any given day.

Better a 2 run then a 3 run.

And as a starter, Jesus lost today too.

Imagine Jesus losing on a Sunday.

Must have been God the Father and God the Spriit decided not to give God known as Jesus Prior much help.

:headbang :headbang :headbang

well foulkie won it and got a bid to the ASG couldnt be that bad a day for him

Biddle had a tough one on Saturday.. Error by shortsop kept the inning alive, and Rocky couldn't get the last out.

Better a 2 run then a 3 run.

Especially when that 3-run bomb is a walk-off

BTW..... Foulke was 3rd in AL player balloting for closers. Koch was so low he wasn't even mentioned :lolhitting

Foulke has 4 blown saves now this year. ALL four are in Tim Hudson starts. OUCH

And with the rest being a crapshoot I really believe that closers are one of the most over-rated positions in baseaball.

I don't buy into the some guys are just meant to close mentality. I think you give any guy that puts up good numbers into the closers role and he'll get quite a few saves and will raise his value. Thats not saying he is a great closer, its just saying he's a good pitcher and happened to find himself in the right role.

Yes the last three outs are harder, but good pitchers get guys out no matter what the circumstance.

Rocky Biddle is a great example of this.

Gagne, Smoltz and Percival (When healthy) are about as automatic as it gets. Rivera was once in this class, but injuries have taken him out of it. After this list, its just not worth the money in my opinion.

Most pitchers can get three outs with a three-run lead. Look at Lance Carter.

We had to get rid of Foulke. That much was obvious. The guy we got has been on three teams in three years for a reason. Look for that to become four teams in four years very soon.

Foulke blows a save and we write about it. Botch blows another save and it isn't even worth b****ing about. Kind of like the sun came up today.

One more deal for a closer. Just one more deal for a closer. Please one more deal for a closer.

I don't want KW dealing anymore prospects until either Gordon or Marte is given ample opportunity to save close games and we'll see how he/they do.

I would add Trevor Hoffman to that list as well when healthy

I agree but times a wastin' trade deadline is this month.

Why did we run Foulke out of town?

Why did Sox think he was finished and Koch was the answer?

KW should be fired.

Because Foulke ran his mouth about Kenny.

Billy Wagner is pretty automatic....

How many blown saves does Billy have?

I thought the trade rationale given by KW was odd. I believe he wanted to trade Foulke because it was his FA year coming up and we couldn't afford Keith anymore. He then trades for Koch who had a year or two left and turns around and gives him big dollars to sign for 2 more years. If he didn't have the money for Foulke how come he did for Koch? I never liked that trade and now that Foulke is an all-star I like it even less. I think it was because Foulke challenged the front office plain and simple.
