Seriously. 9, 8, 9, and 11 pitches in innings 3-6, respectively. I said it earlier, and maybe I am beating a dead Thome, I mean horse, but is someone paying these guys to be impatient and see less than 10 pitches in an inning? We were working him in the first two innings. This offense is impotent. Someone get them some Viagra.

 

This happens a lot with this team. The top of the order is pretty patient, and the first two innings, you'll see the starter around 40 pitches. However, we get to the bottom of the order, and then the starting pitcher starts getting more 2 or 3 pitch outs, and it all goes downhill.

Just like Jenks, it all starts with confidence in the heater. Contreras is throwing 92-93 mph this season, which is up from 88-89 mph last year. Thus, he no longer drops down as much as he did last year. If you think about it, throwing a forkball when dropping down is basically impossible.

I like how each Angel batter in that inning saw as many pitches as the Sox have in an entire inning for the past 4 innings.

I get that.....but what does it hurt to get rid of Walker and bring someone new in. Can it get worse? It's been highlighted here numerous times about hitters we have brought in and just turn to crap. At this point....something has to happen and Mr. Walker should be first to go!

Nice hit by Crede...too bad we couldn't at least get Dye into scoring position. A definite pet peeve of fathom is when there's a leadoff hit, and a 2 out hit doesn't score a run.
