Thought this would be a fun little task, so go for it...

So this is how it goes: has to be a current minor leaguer, recent Sox draft pick or current major leaguer.

 

 

C - A.J. Pierzynski (He'll be 35, but I think he'll still be the catcher, showing no signs of wearing down yet. Plus, nothing in the Sox organization screams starter at catcher)

1B - Nick Swisher (great D, great personality, he will hit enough and Sox cult hero)

2b - Gordon Beckham (Sexi lexy forces him to second base where he is a all-star)

SS - Alexei Ramirez (might never put up MVP numbers, but will be a solid starter for a while)

3B - Juan Silverio (super stud will move to 3B as Alexei is at SS, if he can play SS, he can probably be a third baseman, arm strength no problem here)

LF - Carlos Quentin (Stud, no need to say more)

CF - Jordan Danks (I am assuming he signs, which is clearly no guarentee, but he has the tools to be a Grady Sizemore-type player if he develops, but still should be a solid starter and great defender)

RF - Jose Martinez (probably the best offensive prospect the Sox have, he could be great or dissapear and never be heard of again, but I am guessing he will succeed)

DH - Brandon Allen (Debated Dye here, but he will be old, Allen is a DH prospect who will hit for HRs, okay average and strikeout a ton. Ryan Howard developed late, too. Just saying...)

 

SP - Danks (lefty will be the Sox ace for the next decade)

SP - Floyd (he is learning to pitch still, but he is still a very good looking youngster)

SP - Poreda (Won't develope into an Ace, but his fastball and enough secondary pitches make him a solid mid-rotation starter)

SP - Buehrle (still holding down the fort)

SP - Harrell (toughest pick for me, no one in 08 draft intriguied me enough, Richard would be the fourth lefty and I don't think he will be a great ML starter and Harrell is still coming back from his surgery, but he is a groundball machine with good stuff.)

 

CL-Jenks (still going strong)

A few changes. At first base instead we have this no namer called Josh Fields. I don't think Silviero will make it to the bigs, but I'm not sure who from the current organization would take third. Dye at DH, Kent Gerst at RF. Poreda will be a left handed set up/specialist out of the pen. At catcher we brought back Sandy Alomar to help get Buehrle back on his game.

 

I think Danc'n Lance Broadway will surprisingly been are rotation by then instead of Harrell. Everything is pretty close to what I'd say.

I could quite easily see Beckham as the 3Bman of the future, though I guess I never really saw how strong his arm was during the CWS. I also don't see Josh Fields in the organization past this calendar year, assuming the Sox can get some solid value out of him.

Yeah, I've wondered this myself recently. If Richar or Getz can hold down 2nd pretty well and Ramirez keeps playing like he has, could Beckham handle the hot corner? I think it depends on his offensive ability actually. If he doesn't hit as well as projected and is average offensively for a 2B (which would be considered below-average for a 3B), then I don't think they'd play him there. But, if he could at least put up Crede-like #'s, I think he could definitely play 3rd.

 

I don't think Fields will be around either, but I just couldn't come up with a much better 3B currently in the system (CJ Retherford? Lot of work to do to be considered a future MLB starter)...

Where is David Cook on these teams?

I don't see AJ still being a starting catcher in '12. I have no idea who will be there, but I'd bet it won't be AJ. Not so sure about Jenks either. The hardware in his arm still concerns me.

Why? 9 games, no matter how good those 9 games have been, is no where near enough to anoint a 28th rounder a 2012 starting outfielder. Unless someone has seen a scouting report or two that say he's a beast that slipped due to signability issues (which I don't believe is the case) then it really isn't a good pick at all.

It really has nothing to do with hows hes done so far. I am happy wit hows hes doin but i want him to succeed because im hopin hes gonna be as good as when of his fellow college alums howie kendrick. So i like more on a personal level than necessarily that i think hes gonna be a huge star based on a few weeks of play.
