I don't like Dunn on the current version of the Sox. If they get rid of Thome and Konerko I would be all about Dunn (because I believe every lineup should have a few power guys) but as currently constructed this team has enough power guys who don't hit for high averages and could use another guy or two that could hit for high averages, possess good speed and other attributes.

You mean like Christian Guzman (speed, average) and Milton Bradley (average, some power)?

Q goes to right and Swish to LF.

I don't think that the Sox are going to move Quentin to RF until next season. He was in LF tonight with Swish in RF, just like yesterday.

2 points.

1. I can think of other ways to spend $10+ million than putting another DH on the Sox now.

2. OBP and home runs are 2 things we've tried to load up on since the end of 05. That will win you a lot of games. But if you're not able to win games in other ways...you're going to have some trouble.

You're saying that because the versions of OBP and power you're seeing this year are Thome, Konerko, and Swisher. I wouldn't want that kind of player either ha. To be fair Thome has been overall pretty good and Swisher has been hot lately, but Dunn is better than both.

I'm not necessarily advocating trading for Dunn because of what it would probably take to get him, but I'll always welcome one of the best hitters in the game to the Sox.

He's signed through 2010 with an option for 2011 at a very reasonable price. The Royals aren't going to trade him to the White Sox.

Why not? The two teams have made deals recently. The only reason they wouldn't is because they couldn't agree on a price, not because they won't deal with each other.

DeJesus would be a very good acquisition. However, the Royals are in no need to acquire him and I don't know if I'd give up an A type of prospect to get him (Fields is probably the only guy, along with potentially Poreda who could even come close to being graded A prospects; Note: Neither of them are as of this moment in time). Would I trade Broadway, Anderson and Richar...sure I would. Would the Royals take that, I doubt it considering they don't have to trade him.

A CF who is their leadoff guy or #3 hitter and is under control for the next 3 seasons at a very reasonable rate, isn't going to be traded to the White Sox, unless you greatly overpay for him. Considering Fields is the main chip, the Royals have Gordon. Most of the other minor leaguers are either not ready or still questionable as to what they can be projected to become. Its one thing to trade an often injured MacDougal, but to trade a cheap, effective player to a division rival and face him 18 or 19 games a year, its a different story.

Not that I'm necessarily endorsing the move, but, I'd suspect that the Royals would be perfectly happy putting Fields at first and benching or trading Gload. Or maybe Gordon at 1B with Fields at 3B. I really doubt they see Gload as their future at 1B (being a fan, I watch Ross, and I think he's starting to lose bat speed, and hsis numbers show it).

At the time he was a cheap closer. Those usually don't get traded either, and that happened.

He was injury prone and due a significant raise. There was absolutely no way the Royals were going to keep him, especially when the Sox made the offer they did (it was a significant offer to acquire an oft injured closer).
