Stuff to do in St. Pete?

Featured Replies

I'm going to St. Petersburg next week for vacation with the girlfriend. We'll be hitting up the beaches, go to a Ray's game, check out Tampa, and even a booze cruise, whoo hoo.

It seems like tailgating is not allowed at Ray's games, which sucks. Anyone know of any good spots around Tropicana Field where we can grab a few beers before the game?

Also, any recommendations on restaurants or bars (not clubs) to check out in St. Pete? What else is cool to do there?

Thanks guys.

Didn't iamshack have a great drunk story about something in Tampa? Maybe he'd be a good person to ask?

Ferg's is a good stumbling-distance sports bar, just across the parking lot and over the train tracks from the Trop. Sox fans usually pack the place when the Sox roll through, and they have a lot of covered outdoor area, pool tables, decent bar food, etc. Perfect pre/post game spot.

Here it is.

The Dali museum is great and the Pier complex is fun. Mostly though, people from St. Pete drive over the causeway to Tampa for fun. Head to Tampa and do Ybor City one night - good Cuban food, lots of bars, and a very good brew pub. Have fun.

I was in Tampa for New Years (stayed in Ybor) for the Wisconsin football game.

Ybor was a pretty nice road full of bars and other things. Pretty self contained and you can take a trolley to seaside or whatever it was called.

And if you like late night entertainment I believe Tampa has a lot of strip clubs. ;)

Busch Gardens is close.

There was also a really nice water park across the street from there last time I was there (like 10 years ago admittedly)

Still there. I think it's called Watermania.
