Why can't these releif pitchers come in and shut the door? Dotel gets an out then promptly gives up a walk to a guy with no homers and after he gets a 1-2 count on the guy

Maybe it's just picking certain ABs in my mind, but it seems as a trend when the Sox pitchers get ahead they pick and pick instead of being agressive.

 

Opposite of some of the hitters, they get in a dominant count and they swing at anything that is thrown up there

No, I agree with you 100%. They just can't seem to just come in and challenge the hitter and they have dominated to set the guy up. They then nibble around

I was watching TBS game on Sunday when Dotel was in there vrs Boston. he satrted the same stuff. The announcers were pointing out that Cooper was on the phone to the bullpen and Dotel could see him becasue of his delivery and then finish. It seemed Octavio turned it up a notch to get out of the inning. He has been less then automatic for awhile now
