Celtic Thunder Concert

Featured Replies

My wife and I just got back from our first night alone together since the baby was born. We went to a Celtic Thunder concert at the Rosemont Theatere. Wow. you guys need to check them out. They are a 5 part harmony group who sing Irish songs as well as American Classics like Desperado and Puppy Love.

They are INCREDIBLE. We saw them on PBS back in April and I immediately ordered us tickets since my wife LOVES Irish music.

For those who haven't seen them, this is there signature song:

So is it like an Irish Boy Band? ;) jk

that's actually kind of a good analogy, but with better production value.

lol, so at the 1:35 mark there's like a 12 year old kid that has the voice of a 45 year old. I take it someone was missing in this performance?

No, he's 16, and that is his voice. Damian McGinty is like the Rick Astley of Irish music.

We've all been McGintyRolled. :lolhitting

With all due respect, I still prefer The Pogues.

Thats a song made up for use in the Ireland Rugby Matches. The Irish rugby teams use players from the north as well as the south. The North doesn't want to listen to Amhrán na bhFiann and the Republic doesnt want to listen to "God save the Queen". It was created to avoid the sectarian issues that we have seen before.

Three of the five Celtic Thunder vocalists are Ulstermen which I didn't know. That explains the lack of any good Republic nationalist songs in their set list I guess.

Also one of the vocalists is Scottish.

Wikipedia knows all.

You are soooo lucky you already gave up that man card!

So they are NOT the Irish version of "Thunder From Down Under"??? That would have been an interesting "first night out".

Gotta say, I thought Irish music was decent until I saw that video. What a bunch of fairies.

Spin up some Christy Moore or Altan and restore your faith.
