July 12, 200322 yr I'd expect Honel to be called up to AA at the end of the season, start next season in AA and have a shot at arriving in U.S. Cellular by late 2004 or the start of 2005.

July 12, 200322 yr Ya, Honel will be in AA sometime this year and then next year he'll probably pitch at 3 levels (AA, AAA and the majors). Especially if the Sox aren't in contention late next season as Honel could come up and gain some experience.

The rising Kris Honel, the Sox's first-round pick in 2001, was promoted to Double-A Birmingham after going 7-5 with a 2.43 ERA at Class A Winston-Salem. Honel, a 20-year-old right-hander, gave up three runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday in his first start.

July 14, 200322 yr On the Warthogs Stats section of BA.com, he listed as "Not On Current Roster" First off, when he was sent to Birmingham, he had to be taken off Winston-Salem's roster and added to Birmingham's. My understanding is that it was just for a spot start, as was Yofu's in AAA, but my hope is that something will change and they will be kept. I'll see if I can dig up anything specific today. I believe they are both ready for the next level.

But I think we are still a ways away from seeing a dominant Malone at this level.
