More ESPN Idiocy

I didn't see this posted yet.

This guy doesn't seem to realize Cabrera is a free agent, or that we'll be changing at least half of our infield and a third of our outfield, now that KW has said Swisher won't play CF.

More solid reporting from Bristol.

Just terrible. No mention of Clayton Richard either, who is at least a bullpen candidate if not 5th starter.

Few teams figure to change less from last season to the next than the White Sox

Has he never heard of Kenny Williams before and his tendency to make trades whenver, wherever he can?

Already wrote him an email.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny didn't do much this year. Maybe some peripheral trades, but nothing huge. For instance, if he can dump Javy, it might not be for more than some high upside, upper tier minor leaguers.

that being said, ESPN is a bunch of morons when it comes to teams outside the I-95 corridor.

Rock,

Would you be so kind to post that e-mail? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

He also lists Esteban Loaiza being lost as a free agent. He was already released. Poor reporting and it makes you wonder about these so called analysts as it really appears they have little in the way of team knowledge. I also get a bit tired of how a player over 30 is automatically "another year past their prime."

Ah, I just mentioned some things that were said above. Also I talked a little about the article on MiLB.com about our pitching and John Shelby.

When the article was first posted, it stated that Thome was on the 05 team, but it has since been edited.

I read that yesterday and just shook my head. What an uninformed putz.

Wow.

Response from Jonah from ESPN.com

Unfortunately we had to turn in these articles several weeks ago, which made a lot of what might happen uncertain. Yes I knew that Crede and Cabrera were free agent-eligible, but it wasn't completely clear what the White Sox would do at that point. Same for the now prevalent rumor of trading Vazquez, of shopping Swisher, etc. I did mention Getz, Poreda et al as possibilities for the major league roster, though of course now Getz looks like the favorite to start at 2B, given how much things have changed in the past few weeks.

Anyway, full credit to Williams for not standing pat. He remains one of the most underrated GMs in the game.

Cheers,

Jonah

I want to point one thing out. This is 200000% more of a professional response than I have EVER gotten from Joe Cowley when I write him constructive criticism. Chris DeLuca is generally good as well, but I really liked the overall tone of Jonah's response.

Well, to be fair, in some ways they are right. Really though, through the trade market, what team in their right mind would want Konerko/Swisher/Dye and give up a major league ready player that's actually decent? Of vice versa, How are the White Sox going to get major league ready players without any actual prospects to trade?

I think most of us thought similar thoughts last year, that the system was bare and KW would struggle for a couple years to rebuild things.
