December 12, 200817 yr Saw this word twice in the subtitles of the move "Das Boot." I didn't know what it meant.
December 12, 200817 yr It's a form of the Italian word "aprire" which means "to open" or "to turn". I'd say anyone who uses "apriate" in place of "appreciate" either thinks their funny or is very confused.
