I stopped watching it along time ago, except to get sporst info occasionally. Sometimes I feel it is slanted, but most of the time I feel it is just too doom and gloom. At some point it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy when you tell people the economy sucks, even if it is merely bad, they will believe it and act accordingly and help to MAKE it suck. And is there anything in this world that doesn't give you cancer?

It's been like that for awhile. I'm usually shocked when I see a feel good story on the news.

Hell, just look at our very own filibuster. All news (especially political news) is slanted just to get a reaction of how they want you to feel that day so as to keep the advertising dollars rolling in. Negativity sells - but not in a "DEPRESSION".

I realize that the news has been negative for a long time. The thing that frustrates me is that in a down time like this they are just making things worse. They really wont be satisfied until the stock market crashes and they are able to report another great depression cause it will make for a f***ing awesome story. I really believe that the economy wouldnt be in as bad of shape if it wasnt for the news,they have killed consumer confidence before the ball even got rolling.

bahaha, yeah, they really wanted this depression, it's really been serving them well. It's allowed them to fire half their staffs and teeter on the verge of bankruptcy. They are doin soooooo well.

thanks for the sarcasm bmags. Obviously no one from the companies want to lose their jobs but there is a driving force coming from somewhere that tells them we want to hear about how bad the economy is over and over and over and over again 24/7.

TV news has been awful for years, you don't learn anything. But I think it says more that when stations get desperate they move into a violence heavy format, and it always works. As much as people say they don't like how violent and depressing the news is, the numbers don't really support that opinion.
