Duaner Sanchez Cut

Featured Replies

If he'd go to our AAA team, sure. I don't know why we'd want him for the big league squad when we already have relievers who are pitching better than him.

I think this would be a classic, Coop can fix him project. I would have way more confidence in him than Octavio.

So they cut the guy to save $1.5 million essentially. How odd.

He missed all of 2007 for some reason, I don't know the reason, and was mediocre in 2008. Now he's been cut. I'd say there is something wrong there - injury or whatever. I wouldn't go any further than a minor league contract with him, and besides, we have a pretty solid bullpen group anyway.

He was pretty good until the taxi cab accident. Since then, he hasn't been good.

Duaner Sanchez has lost 3.5 MPH off his fastball. No thanks.

Jenks lost similar. What's your point?

Is Jenks' average fastball 89.8 MPH? Because that's what Duaner is sitting at these days, that's my point. Going from 100 to 97 MPH is one thing. 93.2 to 89.8 is another. I'd offer him an MLC but that's about it.

Duaner sanchez is another one of those "thank god that trade didn't go through" guys

wasn't he also suspended for PEDs? or am i thinking about someone else

Guillermo Mota got a suspension while a member of the Mets. Alex Sanchez was the first player suspended, he was a journeyman infielder. Link.

Sanchez was an outfielder, centerfield primarily.

Jenks was at 97 a while ago. He hits it once in a while, but really, he has gone from 100 to 97, from 97 to 95, and now 95 to low 90's. I'd say his average fastball is at 93.

Not bad for going off of the top of my head.

This is true. Which is a reason why he is relying mostly on his change-up. I saw him two days ago. He threw 50/50 fastball and change-ups. He only threw two sliders. His problem was locating his two seamer. He had no problem locating his change-up, and actually got a couple of strike-outs. If the White Sox can sign him to a minor league contract I'd be all for it. I still think he can make an impact with a Major League club.

No one ever has a problem signing guys to minor league contracts to give more people chances to try out/work through things.

The problem is...most guys don't want to accept minor league deals. Not when there are 30 teams out there in the big leagues, most of whom could use bullpen help.
