I"ve agonized watching Owens play the last 3 days. he fields adequetly but jerry just can't hit. Weis has played well going 2 for 6 today with a homer. Anderson hit one today. i can't find one criteria to play owens over Anderson and Weis. unless Ozzie wants the tallest centerfielder if that would be the criteria he'd be in there.

Owens also cost Gavin a run today with a bonehead play in CF.

Wise and Anderson did it last year for us until "The Kid" showed up. Let's see what another years experience has done for them

Balta, he was playing left when he made his usual bonehead play. Wise played center

wise made a great catch but struckout twice not looking good either time.. not the kind of at bats that a leadoff hitter should have

Anyone ruling out Owens as the favorite right now is probably wrong. I heard a radio clip tonight where Ozzie said Owens is swinging the bat great right now, he's just not finding holes.

Does Ozzie need Lasik surgery?

oh god... I'd like to see one time where Owens actually swung the bat like a major leaguer. Hell, I'd settle if Owens swung the bat like he actually knows what he's doing.

I'm pretty sure Ozzie can't declare the competition dead for someone with 3 weeks to go. My guess is it has more to do with that than with Owens seriously being the frontrunner.

Unfortunately for Owens, most big league teams field a second baseman.

This. Owens could still get the job, but I doubt he's the frontrunner. Besides, just like KW, Ozzie needs to talk up these three in CF, because one or two of them probably will be waived/released/traded/optioned before Opening Day, and I'm sure they'd like to get something back for them if they can.
