I may kill you, cut out your stomach and replace mine with it, and then eat all the foods you do and then I'll be the one laughing.

Too far?

No, I couldn't blame you after reading that "light yogurt, light cheese, light this, fat free that" thing I just read.

actually a lot of the stuff is good... I'm not one of those "you can't tell the difference guys" but the stuff is good and I have to watch it because I have have low metabolism and even with all the working out I do I put weight on easily. (With that said I have my pigout days)

Thanks for the tips guys, I've tried the almonds and they work great and will try the others so there's some variety

I'm not saying it's bad -- but I'm a very big advocate of "in moderation". I can drink diet coke or regular coke -- doesn't matter which, regular beer or light beer, again, doesn't matter which. It's not about drinking weird chemicals (diet coke) or calories and sugar (beer/regular coke), it's about not over doing it, and the same concept applies to what we eat.

There is nothing wrong with a slice of pizza, but when a person eats 8, there is.

I say exercise, be active, and eat what you want -- but eat responsibly -- and be consistent. And I'm not talking a year of consistency, but a lifetime of it, which is the hard part, moderation makes this easier if handled responsibly. Still, people tend to "over do it", and when I say that, it applies to either side of the spectrum (eating too poorly or too well), the same result ends up happening in the end. If all you do is eat healthy, light, fat free foods -- a day will come when you 'blow up' and toss that diet to the curb.

In moderation...

Believe me, it works.

I pretty much do that, I actually don't follow a "diet" because I agree with you that if you get on a strict "fad" diet it's hard to maintain. I was heavy in HS, like 260, then I dropped to like 180, but I was rail, almost sickly looking thin. I'm only 6 foot, but I just way heavy, I have a big frame, so 180 is about as skinny as I could have gotten. I'm 30 now and for the past few years I hover around 200-210, and that's with a good amount of muscle. I enjoy my life and if it gets too far I am able to buckle down

Curious whats your height, weight, and age. I agree that that may work for you and many, but not for all. moderation may keep weight down, but a diet like that isn't going to cut stubborn body fat. I know some of us are trying to cut body fat to a minimum, eating fruits, veggies, nuts, and dairy is the best way. Drinking plenty of water and staying away from both diet and regular soda when possible. A diet doesn't have to be a fad, rather a way of living. That said cheating is a must.

Guess for tips a good way to get some omega 3 in your diet is to add a spoonful of flax seed in your protein shake.

I'll be 34 August 16th.

I'm 5'7"

I weight around 155lbs.

I don't drink gimmick shakes, protein powders, creatine, or anything else. I've done all the low fat/no fat dieting, and the only thing that ever successfully helped me cut bodyfat to a noticeable amount was running...running...and more running.

I'm not as hard core into working out as I once was, age obviously changes our priorities -- but I can still do the entire 60 minute P90X Plyo routine, I'm still pretty fast, and I still have a muscular build, too. :D

But I'm not giving up my cold stone ice cream and beer ever again. :D

Here's what I have been eating every day for the most part:

Breakfast

Oatmeal

Lunch

Turkey Sandwich

Snacks

Veggie Salad: Spinach leaves, peas and shredded carrots.

Fruit Salad: Cantaloupe, banana, raspberries and blueberries.

Bowl of granola

Bowl of cottage cheese

Zone Bar

Cliff Bar

Usually a couple granola bars as well

Two scoops of peanut butter

Dinner

Either turkey burger, chicken, salmon or tacos.

Asparagus or broccoli

And sometimes potatoes

Liquids

3 Glasses of Milk

Propel

Lots of water (around 100 ounces a day)

I also usually snack on something else throughout the day or have a different dinner, but this is usually my daily routine for food. I eat pretty healthy and also eat a lot.

This is essentially my exact diet, but i don't have snacks really, and for breakfast ill have 3 eggs and toast.

here's a dumb question, can i eat too much fruit and vegtables? I snack on baby carrots and bananas like crazy. I know fruits are high in sugar, so more so the veg.

You can, but I am guessing it's very hard. About how many servings do you have a day of fruit and veggies?

Ill eat two large banana's, a large cup of mix fruits containing mango, pineapple, strawberries, apple, black/blue berries, cantaloupe. I eat about 25 baby carrots throughout the day, and a large salad for dinner. And while its mango season, I eat a whole mango almost daily as well.

I think your fine, definitely on the veggies size. The one thing about fruit is some tend to be sugary, so that is a concern. If you eat enough fruit that surpasses maybe 4-6 servings, then maybe cut down on a couple servings of fruit a day.

I thought this question was crazy at first. But then I became intrigued and did some light research. From what I gathered, it is possible to take in too much fruit. As you know, there is quite a bit of sugar in most fruits. You should try to limit your fruit servings to 3-5 per day (I don't go over 5). I couldn't find anything about taking in too many veggies. So I'll assume you can eat all the veggies you want.
