I dont remember what radio station i heard this on yesterday, but there was a brief discussion as to whether or not the NBA should break from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and create its own NBA centric HOF.

Thoughts?

I think it absolutely should.

This would be a no-brainer.

There should be a basketball hall of fame. Its not the MLB Hall of Fame, its baseballs hall of fame. You have negro league players who never played a MLB game in there lives enshrined in there and honored in there.

well, you could argue they are included because they were purposefully segregated out and would have played in MLB had it not been for skin color. I dont believe they have college players enshrined there.

There are quite a few people from the NBA who should be in the HOF who aren't there.

Yeah, except we don't have a WMLB, there is no reason why MJ should share the same stage with Cynthia Cooper. The NBA and WNBA are two different products just like womens softball and MLB would be.

You heard it on B&B, and yes there should. I think Boers said something like "To think Jordan is in the same hall as some woman's coach five people have heard of is absurd." Couldn't agree more.

I think it's good that it celebrates the game. It shows that there is more to basketball than just the NBA. There is a world outside of it. Personally, I like it.

"The Professional Basketball Hall of Fame"

that includes Europe, women's basketball and defunct leagues, though.
