July 20, 200916 yr Per Joe Cowley, Colon is already in Chicago and will be starting one of the games on Friday. He also said that Ozzie said that Garcia had an impressive bullpen session.
July 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Per Joe Cowley, Colon is already in Chicago and will be starting one of the games on Friday. He also said that Ozzie said that Garcia had an impressive bullpen session. Not surprised too much on this one based on his last performance in AAA which wasn't THAT bad. Hopefully he can get it together and push Richard into the pen because I have no confidence any longer when he is on the hill at this stage.
July 20, 200916 yr I'm not seeing much promise in Colon here. If anything, it might force KW's hand to make a roster move.
July 20, 200916 yr I'd take a Freddy Garcia who can throw strikes and get his fastball up in the high 80s than an ineffective Clayton Richard throwing 95 any day.
July 20, 200916 yr How does Crowley know where Colon is? Did he call his agent who called Juan who called Bartolo's cousin Carlos...
July 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) That'll be a loss. Colon has pitched a few outstanding games this season. One can always hope.
July 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) Colon > Richard agreed. at least as a starter. However, i think Richard has the future to be an effective reliever. Hopefully like a Neil Cotts of 2004 and 2005.

Hopefully like a Neil Cotts of 2004 and 2005. I would agree also. If Colon fails (I assume he'll get at least two starts) does Carlos Torres get a look, or will Freddy get the nod, even if he's mediocre in his rehab?
