That was s nice 9 pitch at bat for Beckham and he delivers with a single to lead off the inning

Just a really wonderful AB from a professional hitter...maybe already our best "pure" hitter.

With the offensive fire power we have would it be too much to ask for a blowout every 9 games or so? Why must we go through these long stretches looking so bad against mediocre pitching?

What's not to love? Line drive hitter, see's a lot of pitches, great plate discipline for someone his age, doesn't strike out a ton, works the count, goes with the pitch, had good/improving power, good speed...

What Dye can't do Konerko does

Like I said yesterday, whenever there's a critical situation between Sox and Twins, Mauer will just call for outside sliders against guys like Konerko and Dye, and they do nothing but pop it up or ground out weakly.

Home run or nothing from PK, Dye, and Thome these days.

 

That inning was a microcosm of what this team needs to become versus what it is -- a guy who hits the ball where it's pitched, doesn't try to roll over every pitch versus 2 guys whose default is to try and pull the ball, at almost all times.

More of the former, less of the latter, please.
