July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Reds Acquire Scott Rolen For Edwin Encarnacion By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 2:56pm CST] 2:56pm: FOX Sports says the Blue Jays will get Edwin Encarnacion and a minor leaguer. Rolen is expected to approve the deal. Now that makes sense.
July 31, 200916 yr If they want a failed 3B prospect, they could have had Fields. Man, would our lineup look a whole lot better with Rolen at 3B and Beckham at 2B.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) If they want a failed 3B prospect, they could have had Fields. Man, would our lineup look a whole lot better with Rolen at 3B and Beckham at 2B. Encarnacion >> Fields Not even close.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) Encarnacion >> Fields Not even close. I know, but depending on who the minor leaguer was, we could have matched that deal.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) I know, but depending on who the minor leaguer was, we could have matched that deal. K. Just making sure. I thought you were crazy there for a second.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Rotoworld saying Alonso AND Encarnacion for Rolen. Ouch. If that's true the Reds GM needs to be fired ASAP
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Rotoworld saying Alonso AND Encarnacion for Rolen. Ouch. You've got to be kidding me.
July 31, 200916 yr Per Rotoworld: According to FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays will receive infielders Edwin Encarnacion and Yonder Alonso from the Reds for third baseman Scott Rolen. It'd be a surprisingly nice haul for the Jays. Alonso was a first-round pick just a year ago and Encarnacion is a full eight years younger than Rolen.
July 31, 200916 yr Y'all need to check out Redszone.com. They're goin' nuts over there. I can't blame them. What an awful, awful, awful trade.
July 31, 200916 yr 3:14pm: Rolen approved the deal, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post (on Twitter). ESPN's Keith Law says Yonder Alonso is not in the deal. Instead, it'll be Encarnacion, Josh Roenicke, and Zach Stewart heading to Toronto acco Edited July 31, 200916 yr by EvilJester99

July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Twitter is getting on my f***ing nerves. I'm just going to sit back and wait for official press releases. 3:23pm @Canofcorn: I have a hair stuck in my teeth. 3:24pm @Canofcorn: I'm watching Action Jackson while on the phone with GMs. 3:25pm @Canofcorn: Just got off the phone with Jocketty. Hairston for Jackson.
August 1, 200916 yr This move makes very little sense. Are the Reds going for it? Maybe.? Are they going anywhere? No. What good does this do in the long-term? Does it rid you of a decent-3b, and two good pitching prospects? That's about all it does do. Edited August 1, 200916 yr by Thunderbolt
