August 1, 200916 yr Washburn’s is not as good a pitcher as this year would reflect. He’s pitching decently, but his peripherals are shaky, and I expect his ERA to inflate to the 4’s.
August 1, 200916 yr plus they were saying on MLB that he loves Seattle and will try to re-sign there after the season. He's a rental that could help them reach the post season.
August 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) plus they were saying on MLB that he loves Seattle and will try to re-sign there after the season. He's a rental that could help them reach the post season. There were reports saying Freddy Garcia was going to do the same after we traded for him.... I would be surprised if he went back to Seattle.
August 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=422&sid=195479 I was eyeing him but knew we'd be too cheap to pay him LOL, too cheap to pay Washburn
August 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) The Tigers would be all sorts of stupid to offer Washburn Arb. He's had 2 great years in his recent career...both of them contract years.
August 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) He's had 2 great years in his recent career...both of them contract years. He’s also in line for a massive raise, and a plunge off the statistical cliff.
August 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) I remember when Washburn was with the Angels, he was described as a poor man's Mark Buerhle. I remember having to watch numerous Wasbhurn starts. I can't stand him, don't like him, but its a solid pick-up for the Tigers. He's a league average starter though historically and thats about it.
