If we are in a tight pennant race come September, we shouldn't be "giving" anyone any shots.

Agreed. I do think if used right you could use those type of guys when the team is winning by a lot or when they are getting their buts kicked (In a mop up role).

T.Yofu (L 7-6) 5.1 8 5 5 1 3 1 He didnt do too well, and seeing as he is in AA, at his age....I'm not sure if he'll ever get a shot up here. Ginter is probably next in line.

this is his first yr in america pitching.

hey i am tired of the sox not making it to the playoff and i see this team doiing it, but we have to be a little ruthless now.

Not getting into this argument again...hes had problems, and I'll leave it at that. He will get better, and I'll still be his biggest supporter.

and that is kool and i respect your limited knowledge of baseball. :o

but at this stage we need to produce and no experimenting.

Koch can be used, for now, like Jason suggested we use any of the September call ups. He might actually get his s*** together before Sept and become useful again.

Jason, what about Brian Cooper? He is putting up decent numbers in the shoebox that is Knights Stadium...he seems to have good enough numbers for a #5, unless we really want the lefty Porzio in that spot.

but lets look at todays game, we needed it and he almost blew it. we can't afford to have him take the mound when he is not pitching like he could or like he use too.

he might just be all use up.

I've been a fan of Cooper since he was with the Angels, but I just don't see him being a 5th starter nor do I see Porzio being on for the Sox.

Me personally, I'd rather have another left handed junk thrower, a la Buehrle...like Josh Stewart...as the #5...then back to Colon at #1. Buehrle at #2, and then Loaiza and Garland...break up the righties, and DEFINATELY...dont put Stewary and Buehrle back to back..I thought that was a BIG mistake by JM earlier this year...

in 2 games, porzio has been a nice surprise, i would like to see him against other teams, but i would not like to gamble now with question mark players.

Porzio has pitched relatively well in his two starts for the Sox. So far, it appears that he can hold down that 5 slot.

Stewart wouldn't be horrible to have in the 5 hole for a short time if he had better control.

I'd like to pick up those arms from the Giants, Ponson, and Giles/Kendall :headbang

Then you are starting to talk about a whole different Sox team. I'm not for that....maybe, MAYBE one of those moves...Colon trade especially is ok with me. Ponson only if JR will sign the guy, and the Pitt guys can go somewhere else for all I care. There is too much money tied to Kendall and Giles...and if that money is guaranteed to them, thats less that JR will give our homegrown guys that deserve it.
