The Pirates can keep Benson. The only trade I'd want to see with the Pirates would involve us getting Giles in return.

Not at all. I just didn't want people to misinterpret what I said, and have them think I wanted Benson. Talk about looking like a jackass.

Yep, it would be foolish to take Benson considering the Sox don't have a high payroll.

Benson could be good, but I don't think a team should take the risk on him at this time of year. Some up and coming team could take him and hope he solidifies their rotation a bit. If the Sox get Benson I'd be disappointed, but he could be good somewhere else.

I'd rather have Pacheco and Rupe coming up.

I'm all for going after Suppan. We could likely get him rather cheap too. Maybe for a mid-level quasi-prospect, Pittsburgh seems to be taking just about anything.

There's a lot of teams looking for pitching, and many of those teams are looking at Suppan. Don't just think you can throw a 3rd or 4th tier prospect at Pittsburgh and they'll jump at it. His salary is not astronomical, they may just hang on to him.
