August 16, 200916 yr Well here we find the sox in another position to sweep a series. They failed against the Yankees, although thats quite a tall order, especially with CC on the mound. They failed against the angels when we had Danks going against an awful Ervin Santana and his 7+ ERA. Now we have a chance against for a sweep against essentially an Oakland lineup of scrubs. We have John Danks pitching who holds a career record against the A's of 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA. They have a 12 loss pitcher in Cahill going who the sox have actually seen before (early June), which really bodes well for our team. If this doesn't look like a set up game for the sweep then I dont know what is. Id say if we avoid the errors, miscues, bad luck, and sometimes blown calls we should have ourselves a SWEEP of this dismal A's team. Its essentially in our hands.
August 16, 200916 yr Well the bright side is that this one is on the road, where we actually have finished a couple of them this year.
August 16, 200916 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Let's get to 1.5 back today. Tigers game loooks more winnable as the Sox and the only thing going agaisnt he Sox is that they are on the road.
August 16, 200916 yr If we fail to sweep em, lets not absolutely set off an h-bomb in here. We could fail to sweep and still be pretty good. We might sweep them and still be sliced in thirds by Boston very soon.

Sox didn't sweep cuz of lack of execution. 7th inning stranding runners, 8th inning pods cant catch balls at the wall, Dotel giving up the deep drive with 2 outs. Thats why u dont sweep, cuz u dont play an A+ game, u play a b+ game.
