Sox pen is good too. Also like Santana, Hawkins, Guardado even though I don't like Everday Eddie very much.

I agree those guys r good. But as far as a 1-2 combo. Gordon and Marte have pretty carried the pen these last 2 months. Their numbers r f***in filthy...And I meant in the al by the way....
July 25, 200322 yr Angels Two Guys Donnelly: 0-0, 2 SV, 50 INN, .036 ERA Percival: 0-2, 22 SV, 32.0 INN, 2.25 ERA If you Count Shields: 2-1, 1 SV, 74.1 INN, 1.82 ERA Weber: 2-0, 53.0 INN, 3.06 ERA K Rod: 5-2, 1 SV, 53.1 INN, 3.04 ERA They are right up there though as the best in the majors.

July 25, 200322 yr i just read somewhere that marte has seven blown saves. tied for most in the AL. i was amazed by that. marte has been throwing darts lately. almost untouchable.

As YASNY and others said before, blown saves happen very often for middle relievers and setup men. All they have to do to get tagged with a BS is come in in the 7th or 8th with runners already on, and despite the number of outs, if they allow the runners to score and relinquish the lead, it counts as a BS. Marte and Gordon have both been awesome at the typical 9th inning save though.
July 25, 200322 yr Yankees and Angels have better pens in the AL. Marte and Gordon aren't the best at what they do but they're good at getting done what needs to be done..... most of the time. As for the NL, I love the duo of Dotel and Wagner.

July 25, 200322 yr I just hope we have these two as long as Flash can pitch well. He throws the ball so well you would never think he was 36. He throws like he is 26. As long as we have those two throwing well, our pen will always have to be respected. Add another good arm, and we have quite the trio. Anyways, when Nen is healthy, Felix Rodriguez and Nen are filthy as well. And if you think Hawkins and Guardado are in the top 5, you are sadly mistaken. Top 10, maybe. But not top 5.
July 25, 200322 yr Flash and Marte have done the job. Wouldn't bother me a bit if we extended them right now for next year.
