October 4, 200916 yr Would it take more or less than say: Fields, Retherford, and Ely? Sign Nick Johnson and my lineup would be: 2B Getz 1B Johnson 3B Beckham LF Quentin RF Hermidia DH Konerko C A.J. CF Rios SS Ramirez
October 5, 200916 yr Hermida's really never developed in these past few years. If we can get him for Fields, alright. But anything more than that doesn't seem to be worthwhile.

October 6, 200916 yr QUOTE (wallyburger @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 07:42 AM) He is a butcher in right field. Damn I must have missed alot of his games for a while now. He used to be a stud defensive RF back in the minors and when he first came up.
October 6, 200916 yr Why do so many of you cross off Pauly from 1B, he can still play some great first base, give him one more year, then his contract is up. Sox need to find a RF (pending JD's departure unless they want Quentin there) and a DH (unless they want Flowers DH'ing being a backup catcher) Find a leadoff guy, second baseman possibly.

October 6, 200916 yr QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:43 AM) He's not a butcher. I don't really know what that guy was talking about. I get to watch 100+ Marlin games per year. It is a common topic of discussion by fans and announcers. He will never sniff a Golden Glove. Here is an example of Hermida's problems. Rough Day for Hermida (and it's only the 2nd inning) Jeremy Hermida is having quite the adventure in left today. He misplayed two catchable fly balls in the first inning, twisting and turning this way and that, as he tried unsuccessfly to get under them while drifting back toward the wall. Neither miss was ruled an error (the old "he didn't get his glove on the ball" scorekeeper's excuse), but it cost the Marlins and pitcher Ricky Nolasco two runs. If there was any excuse for Hermida, who is trying to learn the position after spending his entire career in right, it was the strong right-to-left breeze, which has the flag stretched taut here at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. But the fans here weren't buying it. Hermida was up first in the second for the Marlins and he was booed lustily. And when he caught a lazy, easier fly ball after the Marlins returned to the field, he received the Bronx cheerr. Hermida acknowledged fans by raising his glove in the air. They cheered a second time when he caught a line drive to end the inning. When it is noticed that he is showing improvement, as a fielder, that is not a glowing endorsement. He may not be a butcher, but he is a liability. He is the right fielder by default. The Marlin's OF defense is very sub par.

Who is to say that Konerko or Johnson can't share time at 1B and DH?
October 6, 200916 yr QUOTE (Nunnigan @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) Who is to say that Konerko or Johnson can't share time at 1B and DH? If we're signing a guy who seems to average 200 at bats and hoping he can stay healthy for us, he better be in that DH slot.
