makes a lot of money next year, Pirates would definately want to get rid of him at a small price. Perhaps if we throw in a little more they will cover 2 mil.

no, as in you don't want him, or no as in they wont trade him?

You cant escape the intrigue of having a former first round pick with electric stuff. Especially when we have a pitching coach that preaches going after hitters rather than nibbling

Benson has an ACE arm, he just can't stay healthy to use it. If KW could work out a trade in which the Pirates pick up half of Benson's salary i'd consider it.

His health has been a problem, but he is healthy this year. Scouts are saying that he is shying away from bats, rather than going right after hitters.

I think Coop could turn him around. Like you said though, it would be best if Pitt. picked up half of his salary.

too much of a question mark, gets hurt, and too much money for what he brings.

Nope, he hasn't been healthy, he has shoulder problems (missed his last start because of it), and he's been throwing with pain for a couple starts now.

He's to big of a risk, the Sox's need a pitcher they know will go out there every 5th day.

The Pirates supposedly are about to put him on the DL. I'm very leery of pitchers who have always pitched for bad teams. Some turn out alright, but most never live up to their alledged ability.

If the Sox are willing to add that contract then I'd rather see them go get Giles and Kendall or someone like Ponson.

Now the plus side to getting Benson is you shouldn't have to give up anything for him (If they give up something (I mean a good prospect), then its a horrible move.

Benson has a ton of health issues and makes quite a bit next season.

Just read a sports illustrated blurb about benson, they compare him to Ben McDonald...still I guy with stuff like that makes for a very intriguing 5th starter

How did he get such a big contract so soon? This is just his fourth season. Probably the same GM that gave Kendall $10+ MM per year.

If we got Benson to go with Koch and Colon we'd have the complete set of guys that Dibble says do not know how to pitch. Sounds like a KW move to me.

I don't want Benson at all. I kinda have to agree w/ Jason here. If we are going to add salary towards getting a pitcher, then I'd much rather have Ponson.
