jasonxctf
so i sold a laptop on eBay on 10/5. Shipped it on 10/6 via USPS Parcel Post. Estimated delivery time 4-11 business days. On 10/12 the guy files a dispute saying lack of receipt of product. I point out the auction lists the shipping time and provide him with a copy of the receipt from the post office. (shame on me for not getting delivery confirmation or delivery receipt) In any case, the guy tells me that because of the delay, he lost a deal with his customer to re-sell... so my thoughts are that he no longer wants the item and since I can't prove that he actually received it, I think I'm screwed. (he's also filed a dispute with Paypal who has frozen my account) So either (a) the post office lost this big box or (B) the guy is a saavy eBayer who no longer wants the item and wants to weasel out. Any ideas?
knightni
Your first fault was shipping it parcel post. I would have required express or priority mail with insurance and delivery confirmation in the auction and have the winning bidder pay for it. Basically, you're screwed. Steve9347
This is one of the f***ign terrible, annoying things about eBay. I've been screwed before (albeit on a lower-ticket item). There are people out there who buy s*** like this just hoping it comes without delivery confirmation so they can scam you. IE, always get delivery confirmation when doing eBay business. G&T
Call the post office and see if there is any chance they can track whether it was delivered even without confirmation. They probably won't, but it's worth a shot. Also, is he saying that it wasn't delivered or that it was delivered too late? jasonxctf
saying that he didnt receive it. i just find it fishy, when someone files a dispute 6 actual days (not 6 business days, probably 4 business days) after shipping. Especially when the auction lists the delivery time as being 4-11 business days.

Especially when the auction lists the delivery time as being 4-11 business days. I'd find it fishy too. I think he probably did want to re-sell and it came too late. Since he never told you to sent it faster because he wanted to re-sell, he has to pay you if he got it. So he probably lied and said he never got it. Especially when the auction lists the delivery time as being 4-11 business days. Once the shipping period is up, see if he received it. if he says he did not, file a grievance of your own with eBay and PayPal, stating everything you did here, and that the whole thing is incredibly suspicious. Also, you may want to consider filing a police report for theft, though you are flying a little blind there without the delivery confirmation. Just make sure you tell him about BOTH those things, and tell him now, that you plan to do them. Might scare him straight, and give him the idea that you won't be easily taken for a ride. RockRaines
Typical ebay scam. They sometimes search for items that appear to not be shipped correctly. Sorry dude.
jasonxctf
well here's your final resolution... because the customer filled the complaint so early, and because I don't have a tracking number, Paypal automatically refunded the customers $ even though the item isn't supposed to arrive until the 22nd. (which would be 11 business days from the 6th) when i asked about why they would refund money before the delivery due date, i got the typical "we understand your frustration... BS" Then they said, let's hope that the package does arrive, and then he sends his money back in. (yeah right) insanity to refund $ before a delivery due date. If this doesn't end well, you may be able to go after eBay for the money, instead of the seller, for the early refund.
RockRaines
When it comes down to it, you are going to end up with the item or the money for the item, and the buyer will either end up with money and the item or just the money.

DrunkBomber
I used to sell stuff and amazon and they had a policy (Im not making this up) that if someone claimed what they ordered isnt what you shipped them then they would immediately refund the money and made no attempt to try and have them return the item.
