November 10, 200916 yr He'd make a nice replacement for Wise and I believe he still has 2 options left so I'd say no.
November 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (ozzfest @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) Will De Aza have a chance at winning a starting job? I hope not.... He'll be our starting DH and will lead off Duhh - don't you see the master plan. Where's that green text button thingy?
November 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 07:54 PM) De Aza? Is that a new Wu Tang member? Is your signature a joke? The wonder boy, mr. 10.80ERA linebrink, tony - im head of the mediocre class, and dwane "the catch that justified my entire salary" wise? Fighting the fight of 2009??? Yea - that's gotta be a job =)
November 10, 200916 yr De Aza has about as much a chance of making the starting lineup as i do. Then again i am a wishful thinker...
November 10, 200916 yr This is a team that last year gave not only the starting job, but the lead off spot to Wise. I wouldn't rule anything out, but its doubtful.
November 10, 200916 yr I could absolutely see him being on the Opening Day roster. Don't forget who runs our organization and creates our lineups...

He probably should make the roster as the 4th/5th OF and primary speed guy off the bench. De Aza has his value just not as a starter.

November 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) I honestly have no idea who that is. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/deazaal01.shtml He actually won the Marlins opening day CF job in 2007 and was off to a pretty good start before getting hurt about a month into the year and killing his year.
November 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/deazaal01.shtml He actually won the Marlins opening day CF job in 2007 and was off to a pretty good start before getting hurt about a month into the year and killing his year. I would not mind at all if he was our opening day starter in centerfield, If He Earned It. I would not want him starting if however they just gave him the job at the start of spring training like we have seen in the past with Sox management. A starting outfield of Quentin, De Aza, and Rios seems like it would be pretty strong defensively at the least. Edited November 10, 200916 yr by balfanman
November 12, 200916 yr 20-33 to start the year a few years back, started solid last year too. I say we ride his hot start this year as well. Just gotta beef up DH then.
