iamshack
So I'm out at the bar several months ago, flirting with some tourist girls here in Las Vegas, and I was being my obnoxious, drunken self, when one of them tells me I remind her of "Tucker Max." I said who? And she goes on to tell me about this asshole guy who gets waaay too drunk and is mean to women and is a total dirtbag, etc., etc. I had never before heard of Tucker Max in my life (I don't watch MTV, where he was apparently featured several years ago), but naturally, I am quite pleased with myself that I am being compared to this character. I managed to look him up after that and see that he has some book out with his stories in it and that there is a movie being made about these stories. And of course, I've seen the beer ad or whatever that's been on promoting the movie, but I never got around to picking the book up. So anyways, I was stuck at the airport on Monday trying to fly back to Vegas, and I was delayed several hours, so I wander into a bookstore to pick up another book (knowing I am going to finish the one I had brought with me thanks to this delay), and I see "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell." So I pick it up, not really expecting much, but figuring it should be entertaining for the last few hours of the flight and then I can set it on the back of my crapper at home. Well, has anyone else read this book? Not that we all don't have stories like this, and not that this guy isn't a total obnoxious ass, but I can't help but appreciate the way this guy writes his stories. For any of you lawyers or law students out there, you'll especially appreciate some of the legalese he throws in there when describing some of these women and the situations he gets himself into. Never thought I would read the phrase "moral turpitude" after I graduated law school. Anyways, was just curious if anyone else has read the book and what they thought? And if anyone has seen the movie or not...
SoxAce
Wow.. talk about a throwback.. I remember this was talked about back in the day a few times actually. SoxFan1 (Slav) loves Tucker Max, kinda got me into it a while back, though I haven't followed up on the stories much anymore.

Funny thing is, I always think of your avatar when I read this s*** for some reason... I don't know how I managed to not hear of this before...it's not that it's anything new really...we all have stories like these...but there is something about knowing others are just as morally bankrupt as you that makes you feel better I guess... iamshack
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 06:44 AM) the guy's a liar, terrible writer and an asshole. Figure's he's so popular. Really? How do you mean he is a liar? Like he embellishes, or he just makes everything up completely? And I happen to think he is a good writer, given the audience he is trying to reach and the subject matter...I mean let's face it, he's not writing War and Peace here... G&T
I read it. I didn't think it was that great, but it was entertaining. Whether it's true, I don't know, and I don't care. Frankly, I hope it isn't. For the good of humanity.
Whitewashed in '05
Even giving him the benefit of the doubt I have to believe that he exaggerates his stories and fabricates some of the stuff that happens just to make it funnier because what's funny in person is never as funny in writing or on TV. I also think that there's only so many "rolling on the floor laughing your ass off" type stories anyone has so I'd have to think he completely makes up some of that s***. Actually, doesn't he say somewhere in a disclaimer or something that those stories are "inspired by true events" and that every detail he writes may not have actually happened?
