If respect for human beings cannot be accorded here, then Jason, Mario, Murcie, I present to a problem that needs solutuion. We have gay and lesbian members here who do not deserve to be insulted so repeatedly by people who cannot speak normally but must substitute hate speech. Shall I edit the posts? Shall I delete the posts? Shall the poster be banned (I am NOT in favor of that option.) Shall I and others permanently leave soxtalk so I can stop having insults tossed at me and be offended by people who use hate speech? What the f*** has to happen before something good happens?

And behind a computer screen you cant tell if the person is white or black so nothing can be done about use of the word n*****. Im white so I dont use it, but if a black poster did, Id be fine with it. Us white people can call people crackers and its not racist. But you can probably tell by the context when the word is hateful or not. Hint: "My n****" is not a hate term. And as for "f**s", who really cares? Its not a hate term. Heck, I call even people who I know are straight f**s. The words been so distorted it hardly refers to gay people anymore...
July 28, 200322 yr Honestly cw, I do understand you being upset, but the proplem is when someone reacts like this it gives the words power. I really believe that the more offended we get at words used for racism, sexism, and any of the other offending isms that exsist, we take the power out of our own hands and give it to those would hurt us. Not many people think like I do though, and I don't expect them to, but give it some thought. But as to the central issue of your post, I do agree that for the masses and the good of the site, there should be a cut and dry policy with consequences for offending behavior involving the offending "isms". If we allow posters to use derogatory slang in just about any way shape or for we open the door to hate. I would say that offenders of sex, religion, race, or anything of the like should serve a short banishment with an explanation sent to that person as to why they were locked out. The second time they should be done, IMO.

It would be nice to see Frank do it as long as he knows when to get out . Harold didnt and it was a s***ty way to see him go out considering he was my favorite Sox player till Robin came up.

July 28, 200322 yr And I was also off the Frank wagon...I'm glad he's doing well, because when he's on he's a huge weapon. But loyalty is a thing of the past in professional sports, and trust me, if there was a deal to his liking last winter, Frank would be in another uniform right now, shooting little verbal jabs at White Sox management and fans. Professional sports now is all about the money and "respect", which usually means money anyway, so I'm way past falling in love with a player and defending anyone if they're not producing. So SINCE he's playing well and UNTIL he stops playing well, I'm all for Frank Thomas!
