Why? Obama will be appointing the replacement...?

There is no way he'll get someone as liberal to replace JPS. The Right would never allow it.

i know you guys refuse to believe it, but Obama has been very centrist. JPS was the pillar of the left on the court. Obama will not propose a very left figure for the court. So it once again becomes more right.

I just hope he puts someone in that will defend corporations. They currently get no love.

The U.S. Supreme Court...brought to you by Carls Jr.

Obama is the most radical president evah, and yet by all accounts he won't appoint someone as liberal as a Ford appointee.

I'm guessing Elena Kagan, but what do I know...

Hillary anyone? There were rumors a while back.

I want someone picked whose a hardliner against extrajudicial executive powers such as the US citizen assassinated by the Obama administration. Since congress is dickless when it comes to doing anything, I'd like a court to take this up.

will she wear the logos of her corporate owners on her robe?

JPS turns 90 in 11 days. Didn't leave himself much retirement time.

I really think Merrick Garland is my choice, but my research is in its infancy.

Pamela Karlan would awesome.

The sad thing is...somehow I doubt you see the difference between Sotomayor and Stevens on the ideological spectrum.

the sad thing is I doubt you can comprehend that it's difficult to tell what a judges ideological spectrum will be on the supreme court until they have served for a while. It's also sad that you don't even realize a Republican put Stevens on the court.

Point 1: Yeah, like Justice Roberts, who really did a show with that "I'm a centrist" and "I respect precedent" thing in his confirmation.

Point 2: Yeah, Stevens started in 1975. Doesn't mean he wasn't by far the most liberal member of the court.

Point 3: If you think that nothing has changed since the 1980's in the vetting of these candidates to make sure that a Republican isn't appointing a Democrat or vice-versa...you're simply wrong.
