Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's longstanding tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment. In six games last week, Carlos led the Majors with 11 RBI and a 1.111 slugging percentage while helping the White Sox to an 11-game winning streak, which was snapped on Sunday. The right-handed hitting outfielder batted .389 (7-18) and tied for the Major League-lead with four home runs, adding a double, six runs scored and two walks with a .522 on-base percentage. Quentin went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Chicago's 9-6 Interleague victory over the Atlanta Braves on June 22nd. The following day, Carlos recorded his seventh career multi-homer game with two home runs and three RBI to lift the White Sox to a 4-2 victory over Atlanta, the club's eighth consecutive win. On June 25th against the cross-town rival Chicago Cubs, Carlos drew a walk, scored twice and drove in three runs with a double and a home run in Chicago's 10th straight win, a 6-0 shutout. The contest was Quentin's third multi-hit game and third three-RBI performance of the week. This is the first career weekly honor for the 27-year-old California native, who was a member of the 2008 A.L. All- Star Team at Yankee Stadium. Other noteworthy performances included Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who extended his career-best hitting streak to 21 games on Sunday and compiled a .455 batting average with two home runs during the week. New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who had three home runs and 10 RBI, was also considered. The Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week, Carlos Quentin, is awarded a watch courtesy of Game Time, the leader in licensed sports watches, which is available at MLB.com.
