August 8, 200322 yr has anyone else noticed that d'lo and robbie alomar have almost similar stats this season...do u think we should have kept jimeniz for next year when alomar leaves???
August 8, 200322 yr has anyone else noticed that d'lo and robbie alomar have almost similar stats this season...do u think we should have kept jimeniz for next year when alomar leaves??? No. Jimenez had no range and Alomar has already made plays that DLo's lazy ass never would have made.
August 8, 200322 yr Jimenez's average was dropping like a bomb. Before his trade, it was nearing .250. Robbies is hanging around the .300 mark. Robbie is what this team needed. He could also be sort of a 'mentor' to Willie Harris, and possibly make ol' Willie the next Robbie Alomar. WOuldn't that be grand?
August 8, 200322 yr possibly make ol' Willie the next Robbie Alomar I think you meant to say POSSIBLY make ol' Willie the next Robbie Alomar
August 8, 200322 yr I think you meant to say POSSIBLY make ol' Willie the next Robbie Alomar Hmm, fixed it. That's my first time using green text... I suppose.
August 8, 200322 yr i like robbie in the line-up.... its carl everett who does not really do it for me... but i am keeping the fingers crossed
August 8, 200322 yr no not for a minute....Robbie brings a lot more to the table..He knows how to win and that can be contageous....His batting is improving with every game and now some power is showing..his speed and range is far superior to D's
August 8, 200322 yr Comparing D'angelo Jiminez to Roberto Alomar is like comparing Jamie Navarro to Roger Clemens.
August 8, 200322 yr I'll take Alomar every day for the rest of this season. Think Met fans are a little pissed he didn't play this hard for them?
August 8, 200322 yr I'll take Alomar every day for the rest of this season. Think Met fans are a little pissed he didn't play this hard for them? Who gives a rat's ass about what any New York fan thinks about anything. I hate the sports teams in that town. Every freaking one of them. ....... and their fans too!
August 8, 200322 yr Alomar has made our defense better, our lead off hitting better, and the people around him better. There is no question Robbie has made this team better.
August 8, 200322 yr Is that a serious question? We were 41-42 before Alomar joined us and played. Since, we are 19-12. You tell me if we're better.
August 8, 200322 yr And don't forget about baserunning. Like when Robbie went from first to third on a dribbler down the first base line, then drew a wild throw from Harvey and scored. Nice job -- scoring from first on a ball that didn't leave the infield. I wanted to keep Jimenez and send out Harris, mostly because Jimenez would have given us a lot more versatility as a pinch hitter and occasional right handed substitute for Alomar at second. (Tony G can't cover both SS and 2B against lefties.) But he probably had to go for the same reason Rick White had to go. He'd lost his position in the clubhouse by slacking too many times. I think Jimenez will remain an above average hitter with a good on base average, but his play in the field will drive Cincy fans nuts.
August 8, 200322 yr Leadership is always an important part of a winning ballclub, and Robbie provides plenty of that.
