That being said, nothing in here suggests that Palin or her followers had anything to do with the censorship. It seems the newspapers did that on their own. So this isn't her or her followers fault. At least, not as far as I can tell from these sources.

It's a plausible explanation for refusing to publish a popular comic strip that's making fun of Palin. Can you think of another explanation?

The most plausible explanation here is that it's still far too dangerous in a business sense to make fun of a failed VP candidate who quit as a 1/2-term governor of Alaska.
