He woud do better to take more pitches and cut down on the real hard swing. Slow it down and meet the ball and drive it not make these fancy ooh and ahh type wild swings

That's exactly what he was trying to do in the minors when his approach completely fell apart. That's what he was doing when he went down to hitting .220 in 2010 and had all of his other numbers get worse, including the strikeouts.

 

Some guys just don't work when you try to cut down on their swings.
