Players may want him on the team because he is a really good player and is a tireless worker. One of the hardest workers in the game. Hate is a really strong word and I don't think it really applies to many people. However, believe me the people who actually like him are few and far between.

Aside from a few comments here, I've not heard of any of the Sox not liking AJ. Like you, I've never met him, but I agree that the hate is overblown. Obviously he's a guy you'd rather play with than against. I'll say this about the White Sox fans, though: If AJ signs with an AL club, he will be greeted very warmly when he plays at The Cell (the first time for sure). I'd love to see AJ back next year, but only at the right price...which is probably no more than what he was paid in 2012. The Sox need another LH bat, and he fits the need. I believe, however, that he will be playing elsewhere for upwards of $10MM next year.

The pitcher who made those comments in SF was a weenie but the situation in that clubhouse had gotten so bad that it was not going to end well no matter what.

That was the whole "$100 to anyone who hits a homer off him" deal.

This I agree with. I don't think AJ cares what people think about him. I'm not sure Putz or any other former teammate is afraid of AJ like a middle school kid being afraid of a bully.
