February 7, 201313 yr Author QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) To be fair, Illitch may die any day now. Hopefully his horrible pizza dies with him.
February 7, 201313 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) They are up against the luxury tax which they are refusing to go over. Unless Rodriquez's contract gets voided, they don't have money to spend for years. Oh, well that's different from an actual hard cap. They can spend as much money as they want, they're just choosing not to spend that much.
February 8, 201313 yr Author Worth noting Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN As Felix has been one of the best in baseball, his average fastball velocity 2007-2012: 96.3 mph, 94.5, 93.8, 94.4, 93.4, 92.4.
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Hopefully his horrible pizza dies with him. I found a thread full of fail, and then I found this. Disappointed, if nothing else. I do not care if buying Little Caesar's pays for Detroit's roster. That is the best $5 pizza money can buy, and it is delicious. Oh, and Justin Verlander? Yankees? No.
February 10, 201313 yr The deal may now be in jeopardy, per Rotoworld: ESPN's Buster Olney reports that concern over Felix Hernandez's pitching elbow might affect the contract extension he agreed to last week. Well, that certainly came out of nowhere. It was reported last week that King Felix and the Mariners had a deal in place that would pay him a total of $175 million over the next seven seasons, but evidently a physical he took raised a red flag about an elbow issue. It's not clear at this point whether the extension will be reworked or scrapped altogether, nor is it clear whether the ailment might be serious enough to affect his availability for the start of the season.
February 11, 201313 yr Author Bob Nightengale @BNightengale The "issue'' on Felix Hernandez's elbow was discovered Friday during an MRI, which has #MAriners wanting to have protective language in deal
February 12, 201313 yr Author Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS source: felix deal remains $175M for 7 years guaranteed Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 'Minor concessions' were made to address the condition of Felix's elbow in his new 7/175m deal. Old deal torn up.
February 14, 201313 yr Over/under on when this contract will start to officially be labeled "a horrible albatross"...under 3 years is my bet. Good for him, though. Edited February 14, 201313 yr by MexSoxFan#1
February 14, 201313 yr Until he starts getting hurt, it won't. We're not dealing with a slap-hitting catcher making $23 million a year here.
