I don't know why we root for this team!

No, let's just stick our head in the sand and pretend Handzus is a legit #2 C, and give Bowman a pass for it and Q a pass for not trying Pirri there, or putting Sharp back at C.

But, thanks for bringing something to the table.

Pirri has the offensive ability, but he's inconsistent and he's lazy defensively, plus I'm not sure how he would fare at the dot against NHL centers. I wouldn't want to hand him the keys to the second line yet.

Am I surprised he didn't make the roster? Sure. But he's still got some work to do. He'll be a regular in this lineup soon enough unless he's used in a trade. Hayes also has a lot to prove this season. People like to think he's a big power forward because of his size, but he's really not. Hopefully it's something he can incorporate into his game more. He'll crash the net, but he's not necessarily a guy you plop in front of the goalie.

Also, I'm bummed to see the Hawks lose Ryan Stanton to the Canucks. He's one hell of a d-man. Stanton > Brookbank.

And in case you don't know much about Joakim Nordstrom, think poor man's Marcus Kruger. Very similar players.

If I was running the team, Smith-Kruger-Morin is my 4th line. Damn good defensive abilities (especially Smith/Krugs) and a lot of scoring potential.

I believe the argument was being made more against Handzus than for Pirri. Handzus is complete trash.

Be in your seat by 6:30 for the banner raising ceremony.

I'll be there too, pumped since I missed the 2010 raising.

Ceremonies for tonight will start closer to 7 CT, folks. Puck drop is likely around 7:25-ish. #Blackhawks

LAY OFF HE'S MINE.

Was at opening night 2007 vs Detroit. Wirtz's funeral, Kane's first game (Toews was out with injury).

Opening night 6 years later, 2nd cup banner ceremony.

Remarkable.

Man that was a quick offseason. Guess that's what happens when you play for a few extra months.

Hard to believe Hockey is back already.

Washington ( Grabovski )just scored on a 2 on 1 to tie the game at 2 in the 2nd period. Bollig 1st goal ever was 1st goal for the Hawks . Kane was the 2nd. Was 2-1 Hawks at the end of 1 . Ovechkin had the 1st Wash. goal on a PP.

The Bollig goal was right after a Hawks PP expired but before the Caps player got back into the play.

Seabrook with rebound goal on Hawks PP, assists by Hossa and Saad. 3-2 Hawks.Handzus injured.

Caps PP goal to start the 3rd by Green. 3-3.

Green with another PP goal .4-3 Caps. 3 PP goals for the Caps. Hawks defense not agressive at all sitting way back letting Caps pass at will among the 3 guys at the top. Actuall iy was Grabovski again getting a piece of the Green shpt.

Hawks give and go between Handzus and Saad . Saad ties it up. 4-4.

Caps defenseman Connor Carrick #58 grew up on the south side and is a Sox fan.

Odouya gives the Hawks back the lead on a shot that wouldve been wide deflected in by the Caps goalie Braden Holtby. saad with the assist . 3 point night for Saad.

Caps with a 2 man advantage for 1M 26S . Yikes !

Dam how many PP chances are refs going to give Washington.

Edited by Soxfest

1 man advantage 5 secs left in it . Extra attacker for Caps. 1:38 left in game.

Even strength but goalie pulled.
