TalkSox (Boston message board) basically laughed at the prospects they had to give. They had initially wondered if Owens was involved and were both relieved and ecstatic when the package was released. Obviously there's a lot to like with Montas. Reminds of Jenks when we picked him up for nothing.

With Boston taking on all of Peavy's salary, I think the Sox did pretty well.

Jenks had a much better curve as a prospect. He had two plus (arguably plus-plus) pitches. Montas simply has velocity and some nice peripherals in Low A. I like the pick up, but he's not Jenks.

Also, Garcia>Iglesias. Boston didn't part with the best piece the Sox got so they should scoff.

Day one Garcia mashed the ball. 3-4 with a blast.

Montas got hit in his non-throwing arm his last start for Lowell.
