White Sox acquire Frank De Los Santos from Rays

The White Sox acquired left-handed relief pitcher Frank De Los Santos from the Rays on Saturday for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The deal was not a part of the trade that sent reliever Jesse Crain to the Rays in July, also for players to be named later or cash.

De Los Santos, a 25-year-old from the Dominican Republic, went 2-2 with a 4.89 ERA, one save and 26 strikeouts in 30 games between three minor league clubs this season. The 6-foot, 165-pound De Los Santos has spent seven years in the Rays system.

De Los Santos is added to the Sox 40-man roster but will not be added to the major league roster.

Pretty terrible this year but he had a 2.11 ERA last season between AA and AAA in 51 games. Not really sure how we acquired him now since he is on the 40 man. Rays may have canned him to make room for Crain.

First with the "Coop'll fix em".

Just stocking up on LOOGY candidates. He's not even a T30 prospect in either system, never really had any stand-out numbers, 25 years old, 7 years in the minors. He did, until this year, induce ground balls at a nice rate. And he has been tougher on lefties than righties. But at best, this is a guy who comes in as part of the dozen or so dudes they look at for maybe a 2014 bullpen role, and after ST, likely they spend 2014 in Charlotte.

His name is Frank, that's gotta be worth something, right????

And some people were angry when the sox traded Fautino De Los Santos so here you go.

the Astros bad the "Killer B's" why can't we have the Flying Franks? Other than Frank Thomas (who can probably still hit better than half the league) I can only come up with one, Frank Francisco. *shrug*
