Starting Axelrod will surely kill every bit of momentum we have had this season.

Not really but still

Cotts>Buehrle in NYC in 2003...nightmare.

Not QUITE an equivalent situation, however.

You're doing your schedule/timeline thing again...must be a positive sign!

By the way, would you rather have Reed OR Santos, Peavy and Rios OR Tanaka?

It's an interesting question. For this year, definitely you'd pick having the better bullpen and the starting pitched shored up. Long-term, of course, Tanaka...assuming he's healthy in years 4-7 of that deal.

What kind of question is that, the Sox don't currently have any of those 3 options?

Makes me happy when teams give a guy like Carroll a shot and they take advantage. Hopefully he can continue to throw ground balls and strikes. Great team win.

It's simply a hypothetical, "what if" question...

If you could get Santos OR Reed, Peavy and Rios (undoing all those trades/moves) back under their current contract conditions right now, for the 2014 season (and beyond) OR Tanaka under his $175 million deal, which would you choose?

Tanaka, because I still don't believe this team will compete this year, but might in 2015 or 2016.

Great effort from Carroll. 13 GB/2 FB and 3 DP is an excellent way to counterbalance a lack of K's.

Carroll was great. Abreu amazing. And I was very impressed with Eaton's heads up play coming home to score.

Our team didn't do that s*** last year. It shows you it's not always the manager's fault when a team sucks. You've got to have some grinders and gamers. You can't teach what Eaton did in scoring there. DeAza for instance could never do what Eaton did in hustling home for a big run!

That's my guess. I don't see how it can be anyone else. Hanson probably needs more time, and Surkamp just pitched yesterday.

Say it isn't so. Anybody but Axe!
