Anyone know why he was let go from Ozzie's staff in the first place?

Supposedly, laziness.

While it doesnt hurt to hire someone to help with stealing bases, I think there is a lot of it that is completely instinctive and just cannot be taught. When Coleman talks about stealing bases in his interview, you can tell that he sees it a lot differently than the average player, he looks for tells and motions from pitchers that normal guys dont think to look for, much less see.

I dont really blame him for things happening like Abreu getting nailed at 3rd or Eaton getting thrown out at home to finish the game. In fact, i would be blaming McEwing if I was going to blame anyone

This. And, eventually, Robin if it continues with similar results for an extended period.

the problem i have and it has been said many times in other sports. sometime great players don't make good coaches. this great players have a god given talent that made them special. so how can these players who become coaches teach talent?

they can team techniques that can make players better, but not the instinctive trait that they have that made them special.

that is why they need to find a happy middle point that can work.

per Tony LaRussa on how he became a good coach while not having the talent as a player.
