It is not real hard. You have to slide over the bag. You can not slide outside of the bag to make contact with an opponent.

About f***ing time.

 

You can't protect catchers and not protect infielders.

 

Plus, this protects baserunners as well. How many times have we seen base runners get concussions or head injuries from take out slides? Morneau basically ruined his career doing that.

It really makes no sense to change the rules about home plate collisions and not change the 2b slide. 2 playoff teams lost starters because of it and there is no need for it in baseball. The only thing is, if this rule comes into affect they better make sure the 2b/ss are tagging the base
