September 14, 200322 yr Tampa Bay Devil Rays Recalled pitcher John Switzer and purchased the contract of outfielder Jimmy Gomes from Durham of the International League (AAA); released pitcher Jim Parque. Discuss! Poor Parque..You gotta be sucky hella bad to be a left hander and released from any team..nevermind the Devil-Rays and with the 40 man rosters...
September 14, 200322 yr I thought he was already gone.... So where's his next PB&J sandwich coming from, then???
September 14, 200322 yr I thought he was already gone.... So where's his next PB&J sandwich coming from, then??? I'm sure this release isn't his fault either. TB and Pinella probably never used Butter the way they should have. Yet another set-up for Butter to fail.
September 14, 200322 yr Me and my friend pitched a perfesct game with Jim Parque in All star baseball. ah, what could have been..........
September 14, 200322 yr somebody will give Par-Kay another chance he didn't pitch that poorly this year. His velocity wasn't much -- topping out at 85-86, still -- but he never was a hard thrower. In fact, he started two games for Durham in the International League playoffs. My sources say he wasn't released because of the way he pitched as much for the way he tried to 'big-league' too many people. Maybe getting released by a dreadful team like Tampa will knock him down a few pegs.
September 14, 200322 yr Other big-leaguers released by Tampa Bay: Greg Vaugh John Rocker now, Jim Parque Where are they now?
September 15, 200322 yr Parque was always too cocky for his own good. If his career is over, I will always remember that he started the biggest baseball fight I've ever seen, back in 2000.
September 15, 200322 yr I wouldnt mind seeing him do some media work w/ the sox, he's a pretty funny dude.
September 15, 200322 yr Anyone who thinks they should be called up with an era of 9 at AAA, is going to get ripped. Espesially a guy who gives up 3 HR's to Mike Cameron!
September 16, 200322 yr Anyone who thinks they should be called up with an era of 9 at AAA, is going to get ripped. Espesially a guy who gives up 3 HR's to Mike Cameron! Maybe you should clarify that for young-in's in here who forgot about that game last year. Butter gave up 3 homers to Mike Cameron IN ONE GAME. Ouch
September 16, 200322 yr I think my favorite title for a thread on these boards was something like "Parque blown out...Butter Melts again". Man that guy is an arrogant clown.
