September 17, 200322 yr jose 8 for his last 56 graff is gone for this series because of death in the family so Jose will get his ABs and be back next year a soothing thought
September 17, 200322 yr And the old pop up to end it by Valentin. Happens a lot it seems. Harry Caray once called it, "he pops it up. That wouldn't be a homerun in a phone booth."
September 17, 200322 yr SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW> THE GAME IS ON ESPN2 SO I'LL BE WATCHING TO SEE IF JON CAN SHOW US AND JM WHY HE SHOULD HAVE PITCHED TONIGHT INSTEAD OF ELO.
September 17, 200322 yr It's time to break up the core: Koney - gone Maggs - trade to Cards for Renteria (3 yrs 18mil left on contract). Lee - lock up - best bat potential on team right now Crede - keep Everett - sign at a low cost RF - bring someone up (Borchy) Colon - lock up - best arm on team right now Garland - lock up - 2nd best arm on team Beurhle - try to lock up E-LO - go 1 yr at a time Alomar - sign him up (both) Thomas - 6mil isn't that bad for 100 RBI DH I think we can afford all that. Colon is a Freak. Don't let him get away. Lee has Bonds potential. Don't let him get away. I agree with almost everything. But Carlos having Bonds potential, come on. What has he done to make you think he can be one of the greatest hitters ever. He looks like he will be an allstar but he hardly looks like a hall of famer. Sounds good to me. I wouldn't be complaining. Ok. What I meant by Bonds potential is the 40/40 club. Not a HOF. Keep in mind Carlos is a Latin player so it's taking more time for him to learn to be a great player. But he's taken great strides this yr. Sammy didn't do crud until his 6 yr & then it clicked. Carlos is showing the same potential at the plate with much more speed. He's essentially a speedy tight end playing MLB. I'd compare him to Jose Canseco but I think Carlos is a much better fielder. Maggs might very well put up Manny #'s some day, but he's outside the price range for the SOX.

Now he's definitely tradeable. St. Louis needs Maggs more than Renteria. They have a good D SS coming up. Maggs will more than replace Renteria's offense. So I think they will do the deal. If a 3rd team can be pulled in to get Drew the SOX might also be able to get an arm in the deal. Tino is making 7.5mil, so trading Koney to the Cards is not out of the question either. The Cards can help the SOX get Renteria, and shave off 15mil from the payroll. That 15 can go towards re-sign Lee, Everett, R Alomar, & Colon.
September 17, 200322 yr Lol... im the biggest Elcaballo fan in the world... and I wouldnt even say Carlos has Bonds potential... those numbers are just unbelievable when you look at what he's done through his whole career. Sammy numbers... i can go with that... but Carlos has a better eye at the plate, and is slowly learning how to hit opposite field for power.... On a side note.... WE CAN TAKE 2 OUT OF 3 DAMMIT.. ITS KENNY ROGERS FOR GOD SAKES TOMORROW.... GO SOX + #45!
September 17, 200322 yr wow 46 pages on a game loss .. thats gotta be a board record for a game day thread.... not that it matters much but we are now 1.5 games back and todays win from kc makes them 3.5....im not as optomistic as everyone else as to our fate from here on out.........me thinks that kc (if we dont massacre them) will be sneaking in our back door soon...........
