June 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Based on who they played and where they played the games, I think 29-25 is right where the Sox should be. But when you start 19-8 the first 27, and then go 10-17 the next 27---and in the process go 1-5 against the Royals---it's absolutely a shame the Sox aren't at least 31-23 at the 1/3 mark. You can have any perspective on this you want to make yourself feel better. But make no mistake, the season series against the teams in the division are a big deal. Any deficit has to be made up against other teams--and that's tough to do. I'm trying for a more modern stats only approach that eliminates old fashioned items like momentum and other nonsense that can't be measured. But I agree with your point that divisional losses do carry additional weight in that you gain a full game in the division.
June 27, 20169 yr Are the Sox any worse off sending Coats down and giving Davidson a whirl at DH? Avi isn't getting the job done, maybe time to throw more s*** at the wall and see if it sticks? The team seems pretty intent on waiting for Morneau to get back to be the big bat they add, so the bottom of the order roster shuffle seems like the best way to try addressing it in the mean time. Coats is just sitting there on the bench doing absolutely nothing, get someone up here that might contribute something.

There just aren't any deals to make. Not many sellers and the ones that are will hold out a bit longer.
