The Wainwright to the Cards Thread

I've been thinking this for weeks. Yes, it has everything to do with who the manager is. But Wainwright and Molina as a combo, for one year, make a lot more sense than you'd think on the surface for this team. It allows Collins and/or Mercedes to get at bats at DH early on. The organization needs to figure out if they can hit, or not. You can probably get both guys for a total of $10 million, which stays within this Godforsaken budget. Wainwright ain't pretty. But he's a veteran. And he's a winner. Having that around for a year has a lot of benefits to a young, emerging Kopech, Cease, Crochet, etc. Wainwright also takes the ball. That's what we are looking for until Kopech is ready. 10-12 starts. Anything beyond that is gravy.
  2. Is it a good thing that they didn't let Bob break this?
  3. He just woke up from a Walker Texas Ranger nap and is turning a bunch of Smirnoff into urine.

    Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread

I have been lurking for years. This isn't a Soxtalk problem, though. We literally can't know any more about the guy. He likes dogs. His wife is Canadian. He is a Codeify guy. He's Australian. He liked the Sox in a sound bite after he shoved it up their ass in game 3. He's also Liam Hendriks. Not Mariano Rivera. Sign him. Or don't. FFS!

Liam Hendriks. Weeks and weeks of checking to see if we got Liam. Hendriks. Good God, baseball. Figure it out.

    Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)

I've said this before. Is this guy and the circus that surrounds him really worth it?

As someone with a Royals fan living next door to me, I can tell you it almost killed some KC fans too.

    Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)

I skimmed through it. Shockingly, it has nothing of substance. Top 5 fan bases in terms of their courtship of him. Honestly, I think this guy might be a disaster. I know everyone wants him, but I question how long his act lasts.

You have $30m to complete the roster...

    Hendricks 3/40 (13.3) Quintana 1/10 with option for 2nd year at 11 and 500k buyout (10.5) Schwarber 1/6
  10. Now don't bring his dumb ass back! But solid post. Absolutely.

Most Memorable Sox Game You've Attended?

    1. Game 2 in '05. Paid $675 for a ticket. Remember vividly, when Vizcaino tied the game in the 9th, thinking how long it would take me to get that money back. When Pods hit the walk off, I was watching the outfielders and hoping for a triple. Never dreamed he would hit one out. Got home at 2 am, put on a pot of coffee, and re-watched the game on *VHS*. Went to work on no sleep. 2. Final game at the old park. Parents surprised me with two tickets for an early 13th birthday present. I was so sad that year, as that place was such a huge part of early childhood memories. Getting to be there for the last out is something I'll never forget.
