  1. If people in front of him are hitting and getting on base, then he IS scoring runs. That's a big point of a 9 hole hitter, especially one in a competent lineup. He's a 9 hole hitter, not a leadoff guy.
  2. Sooooo basically the ratings so far seem to indicate they don't even realize Mercedes, Hauer and a fee others have even done anything this year. Perhaps they haven't released it with an update to the initial ratings but that would seem rather odd to me.
  3. I really like the back and forth of hard stats being used here. Obviously not all of them are in favor of Madrigal but IMO saying he "needs" this or that to be above average is arbitrary. A guy who is consistently batting above .300 and virtually never swinging and missing? That guy is contributing in numerous ways and is ultimately someone you won't have to worry about. He starts playing more solid defense... and if we are still actually debating him on this team it would be absolutely absurd.
  4. If I'm understanding you correctly it would be pretty easy to know when a change is coming if they always come on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. How consistent was that? Why keep throwing them on those counts then? And wasn't Grandal smart enough to pick up on that and throw more sliders/curves?
  5. I'm not watching the game but I thought I heard most of his changes were on 1-2 and 0-2 counts. Any truth to that?
  6. If we do then watch out, he could be the backbone of this team.
  7. New Soxtalk drinking game: take a shot every time you call someone "pal" or "buddy."
  8. Holy shit, is that Gordon Beckham on post-game?
  9. Sox win a doubleheader? Well, I'll be dipped in shit and rolled in bread crumbs.
  10. This forum knows nothing of time so it should just camaflouge right in. The joke is only on par with something like "Obuma" anyway, and by design.
  11. Absolute nonsense. If you get outpitched, that doesn't make you a failure. Good pitching beats good hitting, that's an elementary fact of baseball. Yours is a really warped mentality.
  12. He got struck out on a perfectly located pitch. Lol. Good pitching beats good hitting. Saying matter of factly that a ball has to be put in play for a player to have had a good at bat is silly.
  13. If you really think you absolutely have to get a hit to have a good at bat then you really don't know anything about baseball. Only Randy Johnson is capable of throwing a good pitch? The fuck are you even trying to say?
  14. He was aced on that last pitch, lol.
  15. Having a good at bat isn't predicated on getting a hit. FFS.
  16. Was that really a bad at bat though?
