  1. Let’s say hypothetically kris Bryant was a an FA last off-season and took a pillow deal for this year. He got hurt and wasn’t himself. Now it’s likely that next year he’ll go back to being kris Bryant, but nobody knows for sure and the contract will reflect that. He just cost himself 50-75 million dollars. Its not a risk worth taking because he wanted to play somewhere that wasn’t interested.
  2. I promise you they aren't going to forgo over 150 million dollars to make some rebellious point
  3. If he was satisfied, we wouldn't be here anymore.
  4. Wait did manny refuse a meeting? What the hell are we waiting around for then?
  5. His source told him something everybody assumes. Nailed it.
  6. They will go to whoever pays them what they want. The money just isn't there yet.

  8. Those are the fishiest ones for sure. I would not be at all surprised if there is some sort of handshake agreement to get and stay under luxury tax
  9. So what happens if hypothetically the Sox sign Machado for, say, 175 million and it later comes out that the owners were in fact colluding to suppress salaries? Nothing?
  10. Dude doesn’t have to go anywhere near Chicago in january
  11. You can’t risk blowing up a negotiation because you can’t decide if you need to trade for Joc Pederson. That would be a horrible idea.
  12. Never? He will have to make decisions independent of Machado
  13. Is 20 below cold enough to cryogenically freeze oneself? Asking for a friend.
  14. Jeff Samardjza was better than Sonny Gray at the time of their acquisitions.
  15. But imagine a world where they manage to come in 3rd ahead of the Cubs. That would be fun.
  16. HE CAN"T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS
  17. If we can't take a guy that touts being incarcerated at his word, then who can we?!
  18. I'm getting quite a bit of schadenfreude from Phillies fans being crushed by fake reports. It's nice to know your not alone.
  19. Not since winning stopped being the driving force of the bottom line.
  20. There is something to be said about actually trying to improve your team in this day and age, but it's separate from success/failure in acquiring the guy or not.
  21. Isn't that, like, exactly what everybody has thought for a month now? Why is that not good for the Sox? Dumb tweet
  22. He also carried a much higher soft contact %. It's probably an outlier, but I'm more comfortable saying that something was off about Harper's meh year than I am with Machado
