I will only recognize the Sox as the southsiders if they move to 75th and Cottage Grove. In all seriousness, I’m very much a person that would lose at least some interest if they moved somewhere that would legitimately cause them to lose the southside identity, and this is very much not going to happen on Roosevelt and Canal. If they were moving to like Fulton Market I could kinda see the issue. And if they were moving to Arlington or whatever, fuckem.

When you look at how Montgomery, Antonacci, Murakami, and (prior to the last week or so) Peter’s have been preforming, it only further justifies not going nuts at deadline imo. if those guys were all still clicking and they were losing games 11-10 I’d get it.

Hawk and Benetti were very different in style, but had a lot of the same things going for them that are also my biggest beefs with Schriffen They both loved and had a deep understanding of baseball They loved the White Sox They both had out there personalities. Hawk being a half-insane cartoon character, and Jason being an affable and proud dork. I honestly think Schriffen will be a fine broadcaster, but he doesn’t have those things and he never will, and when you’re calling 162 games it just doesn’t work.

That’s honestly the thing that puts me off Schriff so much. It like he’s reading press copy from Brooks Boyer for like 75% of the broadcast it feels so much more disingenuous coming from him than it ever did with Hawk, because at least with Hawk you knew he’d genuinely get in a fist fight if AJ Pierzynski asked him to. Schriffen is just some guy.

Too soon imo. Tim deserves to be remembered fondly, but I think the feelings of how things ended up are going be raw for a lot of people and might result in a weird crowd reaction.
