Ight he may be done with this team lmao

Rumor, but it sounds like the cubs flunked his medical too.

I think ultimately they probably think Quero has some ceiling and want to give him a chance to figure it out. also that Romo is pedestrian bad behind the dish whereas Quero has been awful.

Was just about to say, this past weekend was ….uninspiring on that front.

Yeah, I’m with you here. Turning Antonacci and Meidroth into a platoon would be a much higher priority, and I’m not ready for that.

Honestly, a few weeks ago if you would told me this was the haul, I’d probably think, yeah, that sounds about right. Wasn’t til yesterday I started itching for more.

I think you posted this as a gotcha, but that blocks above average number has me feeling better about the trade in all honesty.

They’re better in that the gaping holes in the roster are now more like potholes.

They clearly wanted to thread a needle, idk if that’s the right call over all, but I’m okay with the result given the strategy.

I think it’s much easier and dependable way to build a steady contender by having a bunch of good youngish position players, than the hopes and prayers a young pitching staff tends to be. Position players need to figure it out at the big league level, pitchers need to do that and also hope their elbow doesn’t explode in the middle of it.

That Rutschman deal is a haul, jesús

Hayes is a goner, but I think it’s a reach to assume Doyle is on the big club immediately.

True, they still need a body to occupy that space in case someone were to get hurt though.

Doyle has an option, I think is just backfilling Nolan Jones, with Hays due for a DFA

On some level they need to do something just to do something. they’re in the middle of a playoff chase and they’re running out a rotation that’s 3/5ths glorified relievers. They should be aiming higher than Robbie Ray, and then probably trade for Robbie Ray too.

Lmao at the idea a dog s%*# team isn’t willing to part with a backup catcher

I fail to see the difference between AH and Hammond if this is the criteria.

Mason Miller is apparently available. There’s a move that I think is a bad idea in my rational brain, but would immediately jump for joy and begin rationalizing the second it happened.

I was more talking about the apparent success there has been around tweaking guys swings ie Colson, Gonzalez, Vargas

Up until about 2-3 years ago I was up to date on damn near everything music wise. And I genuinely thought ‘id always be hip to it’ it’s remarkable that the second I hit 30 how little newer stuff resonates with me. Is what it is I guess but it genuinely bums me out. Like I wish I was as jacked up about Geese or whatever as the younguns.

I think it depends on whether you think he’ll ever hit at all or not. if you do you’d be a moron to trade him. If they trade him I think they believe there are issues with his swing that won’t be fixed, given their recent track record I’d be inclined to believe them.

Nick Hostetler is still around?????

Unfortunately Teel can’t catch every single day.

Last I read is they’re shooting for 10% slower rather than 10mph flat. So he’s running just slightly hot with the change today.

At a bare minimum they need to find another starter. Unfortunately so does just about everyone else. I’m kinda all for bargain hunting, because they absolutely need someone to eat more innings, but I’m not sure even adding a bona fide front line starter would make me feel great about this rotation. Regardless of who gets added your hopes for the rest of the year still rest on Davis Martin, Sean Burke and Anthony Kay keeping what has so far been fairly unexpected success.
